m2reporting - profound statistics on software usage

If the ISP plans to implement comprehensive reporting services, a server-side application will be created that allows the ISP to independently pull reports. It should be possible for the ISP to control this reporting functionality via a web interface with a login, where the desired data is displayed both as summary and graphic charts. In the future, the reporting and statistics are supposed to provide the ISP with information on the use of our software. The corresponding data for these reports are provided via the live update server and are stored there. Therefore this service is only available with m2liveupdate!

Pull your own reports regarding the current software usage of your customers: number of total installations, operating system distribution, and so on.

Overview

All this powerful tool needs to work is a web interface as described above, a server infrastructure, a specially set up database, and a programmed interface. Then, the ISP software, such as m2webalizer, the revolutionary software for Internet installation, is configured so that the desired information can be read out in the background and buffered, if applicable. The data can then be transmitted and used.

It will be possible to analyse the data in two separate areas: in terms of information on the actual software and the live update itself. This means that, in addition to the information listed below, details regarding the live update itself (such as how many customers have carried out an available update for their software) are available to ISP.

The following points could be displayed and analysed as a part of the report functions, whereby this list is subject to adaptation during the course of the project and of course depends on country-specific legal situations

The following information can be included when transferring data:

  • Operating system (version, language, Service Packs)
  • Web browsers (version, is it defined as standard browser?)
  • E-mail clients (version, is it defined as standard e-mail client?)
  • Installed firewall and antivirus software
  • Installed mquadr.at / ISP programs, incl. versions
  • Software usage: e.g number of users per application, number of installations, updates, which topics are most popular among users
  • Graphs showing the exact use of mquadr.ats products: points of entering/leaving the application, which functions were executed
  • m2selfrepair applications additionally report which errors were found and fixed, how many diagnoses were run etc.
  • and many more

The following analyses can be made:

  • Different groupings (according to OS, ISP product, browser, etc.)
  • Periods on a timeline (day, week, month, quarter, year)
  • Display (tabulated, bar graph, pie chart)
  • Aggregate (sum, average, minimum/maximum)
  • Comprehensive export functionalities (PDF and Excel)

Generally speaking we can ensure that customers can be uniquely identified to prevent any double counting should the software be uninstalled and reinstalled. Please note that the aforementioned information will also be collected offline and, as soon as the customer goes online again, this information will automatically be transmitted to the reporting server. In this way a representative result can be ensured.
